Privacy Policy — Pageflip PDF Viewer
1. Data collection
The Pageflip PDF Viewer extension does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data, browsing data, usage data or analytics. The extension contains no tracking, no telemetry and no advertising code.
2. How PDF files are handled
- Local files that you open (via the file picker or drag & drop) are processed entirely on your device, in your browser. They are never uploaded.
- Online PDFs are downloaded by your browser directly from the website hosting them, exactly as if you had opened the PDF normally. The file passes through no Pageflip server.
- During opening, a PDF may be held briefly in the browser's local cache to hand it to the viewer. This cache entry lives only on your device and is deleted immediately after the document opens.
3. What is stored on your device
The extension stores a small amount of data locally, using the browser's standard extension storage. This data never leaves your device:
- Your viewer preferences (page style, flip sound, right-to-left mode, the optional "Always open" setting, and similar settings);
- Reading positions and bookmarks per document, so you can resume where you left off;
- A short list (maximum five) of recently opened PDF web addresses, shown in the extension popup for your convenience.
You can clear all of this at any time by removing the extension, or via your browser's "Clear site data" controls for the extension.
4. Permissions
The extension requests only narrow permissions, and broad website access is never requested at installation:
- Access to a website is requested only when you act — for example when you click the toolbar button or a context-menu item on a specific page, or when you explicitly approve a specific site.
- The optional "Always open PDFs as flipbook" feature is off by default. If you enable it in settings, your browser shows a separate permission prompt. This permission is used solely to detect and open PDF files in the flipbook viewer.
5. Third parties and remote code
The extension loads no remote code. All components, including the PDF rendering engine and fonts, are bundled inside the extension package. If a PDF contains embedded media (for example a YouTube or Vimeo video) and you choose to play it, that content is loaded from the respective platform under that platform's own privacy policy — this happens only on your explicit click.
6. Changes to this policy
If the extension's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
7. Contact
Questions about this policy or the extension can be sent via pageflip.online.
